MEDNAX Services, Inc.
Company Overview
MEDNAX is a national medical group that comprises the broad physician services of Pediatrix Medical Group and American Anesthesiology. The Pediatrix Medical Group and American Anesthesiology units, through their affiliated professional corporations, provide physician services including neonatology, maternal-fetal medicine, pediatric cardiology, pediatric intensive care, pediatric and OBGYN hospitalist services and anesthesiology.
MEDNAX was established in 2009 as the parent company of Pediatrix Medical Group, Inc. and American Anesthesiology, Inc. The name MEDNAX is an abstract word that reflects the company's unique position as an organization. The syllable MED represents a physician-driven medical group that's focused on patient care; NAX represents a national presence; and the "X" acts as a continuation of the long-standing Pediatrix brand, from which MEDNAX was launched, that has represented quality patient care since 1979.
Pediatrix Medical Group, a unit of MEDNAX, was founded in 1979 and now includes neonatal physicians who provide services at more than 275 neonatal intensive care units, who collaborate with affiliated maternal-fetal medicine, pediatric cardiology and pediatric intensivist physician subspecialists to provide a clinical care continuum. Pediatrix is also the nation's largest provider of newborn hearing screens. Today, American Anesthesiology includes more than 550 anesthesiologists and advanced practitioners. MEDNAX, through its affiliated professional corporations, employs more than 1,450 physicians in 33 states and Puerto Rico.
