Company History

Maniilaq Association is a non-profit tribal consortium operating health and social service programs in Northwest Alaska. The current 88,000 sq ft Maniilaq Health Center was opened in 1995. We provide hospital services (primary care) as well as social services and public health services to Kotzebue and the 11 surrounding villages. We are an underserved rural population searching for compassionate people that want to help us make a positive difference in our community.

Maniilaq Health Center is a 17 bed critical access hospital with Inpatient, ER, Urgent Care and Outpatient Facilities as well as a Dental Clinic, Specialty Clinic, Case Management, Lab, Radiology and Pharmacy are also on site. We serve a Kotzebue patient population of about 3000 persons. We also serve 11 outlying villages, with a total of approximately 5000 persons.

Kotzebue is located 549 air miles northwest of Anchorage. There are no highway systems that connect the region with the rest of the state, however Alaska Airlines provides three flights every day, year-round in and out of Kotzebue. Approximately 75% of the residents are of Inupiaq Eskimo heritage.

Maniilaq Association provides a wonderful professional opportunity for the right person. There are many advantages to working here. A five minute commute/walk to work; a close knit and caring community; endless outdoor activities and ways to enjoy the beauty of Alaska. Some winter favorites are ice fishing, New Year’s Eve fireworks show, snow machine and dog sled races. In the summertime it’s the Independence Day parade, garage sale-ing, picking wild blueberries, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, four-wheeling, hunting, biking, and anything you can dream up. It also provides an opportunity to work together with intriguing people who are balancing the preservation of their traditional language and customs while implementing the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality service.
