CHOC has been named as one of the best children’s hospitals in eight specialties by U.S. News & World Report, CHOC earned the Silver Level CAPE Award from the California Council of Excellence, the only children’s hospital in California to ever earn this distinction, and was awarded Magnet designation, the highest honor bestowed to hospitals for nursing excellence. Recognized for extraordinary commitment to high-quality critical care standards, CHOC is the first children’s hospital in the United States to earn the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence.

That’s why at CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange and CHOC Children’s at Mission Hospital, we are dedicated to working cooperatively—assisting and enriching existing services as well as developing programs to benefit the families of Orange County. Over two million children across four counties count on CHOC to be here when they need us most—regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
Company History
Committed to making Orange County one of the healthiest places for children in the nation, CHOC is building a new state-of-the-art patient care tower set to open on our main campus in Spring 2013.
When completed, the new CHOC Children’s Hospital will continue to provide and expand innovative tertiary and quaternary pediatric care. The tower will add 425,524 square feet of space and include a new and advanced pediatric emergency department, operating rooms and related services, laboratory, pathology, imaging and radiology services.
To promote a serene, healing environment for children and their families, the tower will also feature leading design and safety principles; private rooms and enhanced family amenities; open and inviting colorful spaces; a spacious new lobby; an outdoor space and cafe; as well as areas for work, study, play and reflection.
The building process for a project this size is complex and lengthy, but we are working diligently to limit inconveniences caused by the construction, and remain dedicated to the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
CHOC earned the Gold Level CAPE Award from the California Council of Excellence, the only children’s hospital in California to ever earn this distinction, and was awarded Magnet designation, the highest honor bestowed to hospitals for nursing excellence. Recognized for extraordinary commitment to high-quality critical care standards, CHOC’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is the first in the United States to earn the Pediatric Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence.
Named one of the best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report (2011-2012) and a 2011 Leapfrog Top Hospital, CHOC Children's is exclusively committed to the health and well-being of children through clinical expertise, advocacy, outreach and research that brings advanced treatment to pediatric patients. Affiliated with the University of California, Irvine, CHOC’s regional healthcare network includes two state-of-the-art hospitals in Orange and Mission Viejo, several primary and specialty care clinics, a pediatric residency program, and four centers of excellence - The CHOC Children’s Heart, Neuroscience, Orthopaedic and Hyundai Cancer Institutes.

A confidential counseling program is available, free of charge, to all CHOC Associates and their immediate family members.
Tuition Reimbursement
CHOC offers full-time eligible Associates up to $10,000 lifetime tuition reimbursement. Part-time eligible Associates are may receive up to $7,500 lifetime tuition reimbursement. Please contact Human Resources for details.

CHOC is located in the city of Orange in the heart of Orange County, California, south of Los Angeles and just a short drive from both Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Orange County’s John Wayne Airport.
