Description

The Health Officer oversees all aspects of health and safety for campers and staff at Real Adventure Day Camp, ensuring a clean, organized, and responsive medical environment throughout the summer. This position provides direct first aid, manages health records and medications, supports emergency preparedness, and promotes a culture of wellness across camp.

The Health Officer plays a key role in ensuring Real Adventure Day Camp meets or exceeds all ACA and Massachusetts Department of Public Health standards for day camps.

Requirements

• Must be able to register as a member of Scouting America and must submit to and clear all required background checks, including a CORI/Juvenile Report and a Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) check.
• Must complete all Youth Protection Training courses and adhere to incident reporting guidelines.
• Must hold a valid Massachusetts license as a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse (RN/LPN), or be a specially trained person as per 430.160.
• Must possess a current CPR Certificate (must incorporate a hands-on practical test) and a current First Aid Certificate.
• Must complete one annual online head injury safety training program
• Must at all times be available at the camp to render emergency first aid, even while performing additional non-health related duties.
• Must be physically able to navigate rocky and uneven terrain and travel on foot while carrying emergency medical equipment in the event of a backcountry emergency.
