About the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences
The Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences embraces the concept that regular physical activity enhances health, fitness, and performance. The Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a full-time 10-month, non-tenure-track Clinical Specialist position, specializing in exercise science, to join our community starting in the fall 2026 semester. The position is offered for an initial two-year appointment, with potential for renewal for a second two-year appointment and subsequent three-year appointments based on performance.
Position Overview:
In this clinical specialist faculty role, there will be a need to develop, implement, teach and assess courses and supporting laboratories specific to exercise physiology, nutrition & metabolism, movement-based data analytics and, potentially, microbiology content for undergraduate students. With the possibility of fulfilling other KHS teaching responsibilities across the curriculum depending on departmental need and professional expertise. Provision of high-quality instruction presented in didactic and laboratory sessions within the context of the kinesiology and health sciences curriculum is expected. Clinical specialist faculty are expected to teach 24-faculty weighted hours per academic year, equating to 4 units (4 courses) per semester, demonstrate innovation and excellence in the classroom while facilitating student mastery of core learning outcomes. Additional responsibilities will include academic advising and select service to the department to support and enhance the mission of the Department and College.
There is strong interest in candidates whose teaching and practice can integrate technology and connect with other disciplines.

Required:
Applicants must have or demonstrate:
• A minimum of Master's Degree in exercise science or related health science fields at the time of the appointment.
• Strong communication skills in writing, speaking, and presenting with a teaching/learning philosophy that reflects a diversity of thought and experience.
• Cultural competency and the ability to foster inclusive learning environments and mutual respect for students and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctorate or similar terminal degree in Exercise Science or related health science fields at the time of the appointment.
• A minimum of 2-years experience teaching related courses, including "hands-on" learning experiences in a lab.
• Experience teaching at the collegiate level.
• Experience with college/university personnel, policies and procedures.
• Experience with current A&P best pedagogical practices.
